As we mourn the passing of one of the greatest automotive designers of all time, we also celebrate his life and legacy. Marcello Gandini stunned the world with his amazing and revolutionary concepts like the Alfa Romeo Carabo and Lancia Stratos Zero. He showed the world how beautiful a sports car can be with the Lamborghini Miura, then brought the wedge shaped car mainstream with the Lamborghini Countach.

His time at Bertone proved he wasn’t a designer of cars, but rather a designer of icons. Lancia Stratos, Fiat X19, Bugatti EB110, and multiple Lamborghinis including the Countach, Miura, Urraco and Diablo, to name a few. He also penned the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4, then later the Ferrari 308 GT Rainbow concept, based on the 308 GT4. His designs will be remembered for generations, and I’m honored to own one of them.

Marcello Gandini, August 26, 1938 – March 13, 2024.
